I was able to get it working by just creating an endorsed directory under WEB-INF/lib (within my web app).
This was for an app running on Websphere...

I encountered this problem when deploying to a JBoss server.
I put the jars into the JBoss \lib\endorsed to get them to be called.

To use OpenSAML, you need to add some jars to java.endorsed.dirs
somehow. However, instead of doing that, you can also set two system
properties (and add the libraries to the usual classpath):
