Topics:
1) The "Fiber to the Library Project and building a Gigabit Libraries Network"
Goal Number 4 of the National Broadband Plan states, "Every community should
have affordable access to at least 1 gigabit per second broadband service to
anchor institutions such as schools, hospitals, and government buildings."
Don Means will lead us in a discussion about what activities would
effectively utilize gigabit connectivity in school, public, and academic
libraries. We'll talk about the "Fiber to the Library Project" (see the
following background doc: https://internet2.box.com/s/acb5f496d3e3ae0af486)
and building a relationship network of gig-ready facilities cooperating as
distributed testbed/showcase for high performance applications requiring high
bandwidth and as primary national metric to achieve the National Broadband
Plan Goal #4, a gigabit to community anchor in every community.
2) Progress update from the Library VideoConferencing Best Practices working
group
3) K20 IVC Librarians - discuss collaborative project ideas, goals for our
group, future meeting topics.
