~~~~ CALL FOR PARTICIPATION ~~~~~

The Megaconference Jr. Steering Team is currently seeking new regional 
coordinators to assist with increasing participation in the annual 
Megaconference Jr. event (2012 date TBD) from YOUR corner of the world! We're 
looking for folks to help spread the good word and support participation 
"following the sun" around the world on this annual day of global learning 
and cultural exchange. 

What is a Regional Coordinator? 

Regional coordinators are primarily responsible for helping to encourage 
participation in the Megaconference Jr. annual event by schools and the 
non-profit cultural community in the coordinator's particular part of the 
world. Regional coordinators are also highly encouraged to solicit 
presentations and student "VJ teams" who moderate the event and serve as lead 
presenters throughout the day and to support their participation in the 
annual Megaconference Jr. event. Regional coordinators are also encouraged to 
serve as regional bridging sites using their own MCU equipment (where 
possible) to help bridge participant sites from that region. A regional 
coordinator is also strongly encouraged to attend virtual planning meetings 
when/where possible and/or to contribute to the planning team efforts via 
email and planning website. 

What is Megaconference Jr.? 

Megaconference Jr., now in its 8th year, is an international program designed 
to give students in elementary and secondary schools the opportunity to 
communicate, collaboratte and contribute to each other's learning in real 
time, using advanced multi-point videoconferencing technology. VJ Teams and 
their interactive partners will develop and share activities focused on both 
academic and cultural issues. The teams will collaborate with geographically 
diverse peers on authentic learning activities, thus building cultural 
awareness.
