<> Guy Almes Begins Assignment at NSF Shared Cyberinfrastructure Division
On 6 July, Guy Almes, chief engineer for Internet2, began a two-year
assignment as Program Director at the National Science Foundation's
Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering in the
Division of Shared Cyberinfrastructure (SCI) through the
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) program. During his assignment,
Guy will work with his SCI colleagues to craft the programs that will
make up NSF's new cyberinfrastructure vision. He will retain his status
as an Internet2 staff member. Among many other accomplishments, Guy has
previously founded an NSFnet regional network, served as chair of the
IETF's Interconnectivity and IP Performance Metrics Working Groups, and
was a member of the computer science faculties at the University of
Washington and Rice University. For more information about the NSF's
