Merit Network to Host Online ITIL V3 Foundation Course, November 7-11, 2011

Workshop prepares IT professionals to manage enterprise service delivery

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Merit Network Inc. announced today that it will host an online presentation of "ITIL V3 Foundation," a course on the fundamentals of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). ITIL is an industry-standard methodology for developing and managing IT services. The course, taught over five successive afternoons, is presented through Merit's Professional Learning program and will be held on November 7-11, 2011.

The course provides an introduction to the lifecycle of managing IT services to meet organizational expectations. Through a case study, the course presents the core disciplines of ITIL best practices. Upon completing this course, students will be positioned to successfully complete the associated ITIL exam required for entry into ITIL intermediate-level training courses.

Andy Rosenzweig, manager of professional learning at Merit, is pleased that Merit is able to offer this development opportunity for IT professionals nationwide.

"Many IT organizations in education are working to formalize their approach to service management and delivery. ITIL is one common approach to building routines and procedures for managing services. It provides a set of general tools that organizations of all kinds can use to roll out services and measure results."

The online, half-day delivery of the course is a special feature for busy IT professionals. The course will be taught Monday through Friday, November 7-11, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST each day. For professionals in North America this schedule will allow attendees to complete the course without missing full days of work.

Merit's Professional Learning program provides opportunities for Merit's Member organizations in Michigan and nationally to gain mastery in important technical areas. Most events offered through the program are open to attendees from throughout the education, research and non-profit community.

"Merit's Member organizations have responded positively to the availability of this class, and we are pleased to open the opportunity to others from the educational community," Rosenzweig said. "The online course delivery eliminates distance as a limiting factor, and we welcome attendees from all regions."

Individuals from educational and non-profit institutions that are not Merit Member organizations can register for well below the typical retail price of this standard introductory course. Interested attendees are asked to register by November 1 to allow time for the shipping of class materials. Registration and more information are available at:
