Internet2 Spring Member Meeting Showcases Emerging Technologies and Key Federal Policies to Shape Research and Education Keynote Presentations from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the National Center for Research Resources at the National Institutes of Health; Meeting Sessions Netcast for Worldwide Viewing ANN ARBOR, Mich. – April 22, 2009 - Internet2, an advanced networking consortium led by the U.S. research and education community, will hold its annual Spring Member Meeting next week in Arlington, Virginia from April 27–29, 2009. Tutorials, presentations, Birds-of-a-Feather meetings, and demonstrations of state-of-the-art high-performance networking technologies will focus on issues like: federal policy/economic stimulus activities and their implications on research and education, cyberinfrastructure development, telehealth, and national-international networking collaborations. Featured keynote session speakers include: * Russell Housley, Chair, Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) - Tuesday, April 28th, 10:30am EDT * Dr. Barbara M. Alving, Director of the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), the National Institutes of Health, Wednesday, April 29th, 10:30am EDT ** Also featured during the Wednesday, April 29, 2009 keynote session at 10:30 am EDT will be a live telehealth demonstration using advanced telepresence technologies** The Spring Member Meeting will also spotlight emerging optical networking technologies and architectures, IPv6 deployment and advances in federated identity management as well as efforts like the FCC Rural Healthcare Pilot Program. Sessions on novel networking applications in science and engineering, arts and humanities, K-12 educational programs, and distance learning will also be featured.
