Juniper Networks Launches Rural Healthcare Program

Wednesday, June 25, 2008, Herndon VA -- Juniper Networks is launching a new Juniper Rural Healthcare Program (JRHCP) to encourage telecommunications and healthcare partners to collaborate in extending access to acute, primary and preventive healthcare to rural America.  As a key element of this initiative, Juniper invites partner organizations to help identify and support the most effective solutions available to projects receiving funding from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rural Health Care Pilot Program (RHCPP).

“Our nation’s healthcare delivery system is in crisis—with our nation’s rural areas feeling the most acute need,” says Mike Miller, Juniper Vice President of Public Sector.  “Soaring medical costs, unaffordable travel expenses, and poor communications networks mean increasingly poor healthcare for rural Americans.  Increased broadband access promises significant improvements to meet this crisis, if industry, consortia and government can collaborate effectively.”

The JRHCP provides information and resources to rural healthcare pilot projects, telecom partners, and healthcare providers.  Juniper’s goal is to help RHCPP projects deliver the most effective healthcare possible through fast, reliable, and secure network solutions.

Interested parties are invited to visit Juniper’s new Healthcare website (http://www.juniper.net/solutions/enterprise/healthcare/index.html) to review information on rural healthcare solutions, contact information and more.
