INTERNET2 FALL 2003 MEMBER MEETING IN INDIANAPOLIS TO BE NETCAST

INDIANAPOLIS – October 13, 2003 – Today, Internet2(R) announced it will netcast several select sessions from its member meeting in Indianapolis, IN from Oct. 13 – 16 at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott, including remarks from Indiana Governor, Joseph E. Kernan.  With more than 600 university, affiliate and corporate member representatives in attendance, this year’s meeting will focus on the innovative applications and the underlying high-performance network infrastructures that enable them.

Sessions to be netcast include the Opening Plenary at 10:15 a.m. (EST) on Oct. 14 featuring Governor Kernan, Douglas Van Houweling, president and CEO of Internet2 and Paul Messina, distinguished senior computer scientist at Argonne National Lab, speaking on “CyberInfrastructure: Promises and Challenges.”  The Second Plenary at 10:30 a.m. (EST) on Oct. 16 features John Delaney, professor in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington, speaking on “The NEPTUNE Regional Cabled Ocean Observatory: Interactive Networks of Remotely Operated Submarine Laboratories.”  Additionally, the newest Internet2 Land Speed Record award will be presented during the second plenary.

Wed., Oct. 15
+ 8:45 – 10 a.m., Network Engineering: Performance Engineering: E2EpiPEs and FastTCP
+ 10:30 – 11:45 a.m., Middleware: Shibboleth Case Studies
+ 1:15 – 2:30 p.m., Relationships and Partnerships: Politics, Law and Technology: Bandwidth Management for the Fearless
+ 3 – 4 p.m., Network Engineering: Abilene Update
+ 4:30-5:30 p.m., Network Engineering: IPv6 by 2006: The Case for IPv6 Deployment Throughout the Internet2 Community by 2006

Thurs., Oct. 16
+ 8:45 – 10 a.m., Advanced Applications – Video: Extending the Reach of Digital Video
