We're running Grouper 2.5.x with Podman on RHEL7 - still mostly in test/dev mode at the moment, but close to having a small production instance ready.  We haven't run into any deal-breaker issues, but I have seen a few minor issues that are unclear to me if it's Podman-related, something I did wrong, or a bug in general:

-The Auto-DDL doesn't quite work. If you bring up the brand-new container, podman exec into it, and then run gsh (without actually running a script) it will then populate the DDL.
-Sometimes when restarting the container, some /run/httpd/authdigest_shm.* files get left behind, and then httpd won't start. Clean them up and restart again and it's fine.
-The /opt/grouper/logs directory in the container seems to have bad permissions by default (owned by root, but tomcat can't write to it).

Hello GROUPER-USERS --

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with GROUPER container based
installation on the new REL-8 distro,
in particular installation using Red Hat PODMAN with Docker emulation. I was
able to successfully install the
GROUPER 2.5.33 container in quickstart.

- Has anyone successfully used PODMAN to install GROUPER?
- If you have experience with PODMAN, have you run into any issues?

I am thinking of trying a full GROUPER installation with PODMAN on REL-8. Does
anyone have any thoughts or
suggestions regarding this?

Thanks for any feedback anyone might have to share.

- Thomas
