This is the activemq implementation. i.e. it is very lightweight and we can add another pretty easily if kafka can do simple messaging things like the others…

In our initial designs to get Grouper groups into TeamDynamix (from earlier post/inquiry) we have settled on testing out the messaging capabilities of Grouper. I see that Grouper has included a connector for Apache ActiveMQ as documented here: https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+Messaging+with+ActiveMQ, but we have already deployed for other purposes Apache’s Kafka platform. It looks like there is a connector to get ActiveMQ messages into Kafka, but wondering if anyone has ever attempted to write a module for Grouper that directly talks Kafka. The less moving parts, the better! I don’t know much beyond the basic concepts of messaging, so open to any opinions on a Grouper->ActiveMQ->Kafka->TDX messaging flow. I welcome any tips or examples!
Thanks, Erik Coleman
