It looks like there is a “pre delete check” that gets “counts” of objects.

                Delete 9 folders

                Delete 4 groups

                Delete 4 attribute Definitions

                Delete 4 attribute names

 

Q1: Maybe there should be a way to view the list of those objects?

                Maybe a link that pops up a div with the list of objects for each type?

                ( Bonus points for URL lnks to each object. To allow the user to “open in a new tab” if they want to pop over and look at something before they say “delete”.)

                Maybe a link to show all of the objects in one list? (Maybe using the new visualization feature? J  Might be a way to make/collect a useful artifact about the delete that will be done.)

 

Q2: Are “Roles” just be counted as “groups”? ( Maybe knowing some are Roles might be helpful? )

 

Q3: Are the user’s permissions used to get the lists? (AKA: Might a user be able to “count” objects that they can not see? )

 

Q4: Could there also be some information surfaced about the counts by “Types” of objects too?

                Knowing that a “reference”/basis/bundle/etc… is about to be deleted might be a good thing to know.

 

Q5: What happens if there is one or more sub objects that the user can not see/delete? ( A group in a sub folder that they have no access too?)

                The user might want to delete a sub folder, but is not able to empty it.

                                Does the operation stop at that point? ( AKA: Partially complete by removing all that the user can remove.)

                                Roll back? ( transactional integrity for the delete operation. It all works or it does nothing.)  

                                Not start at all? ( preflight checks don’t even try to start the delete and issues a warning of some kind. )

There are some patches in 2.4 to allow users to delete multiple objects (i.e. obliterate) in Grouper.
