The limit is 4000 characters and hasn't changed. MySql and Postgres can handle larger, but this is the longest varchar length possible in Oracle SQL.

 

Changing the column size in GROUPER_ATTRIBUTE_ASSIGN_VALUE and GROUPER_PIT_ATTR_ASSN_VALUE may work, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you ever upgraded it may generate statements to revert it back to 4000, so it would something to keep an eye on when upgrading.

 

Creating a view or optimizing the query size would definitely be the better option. If a view wasn't an option, another way might be to create some functions to cut down the query size.

Hi Grouper Team,

 

We seem to be hitting an upper character limit when trying to add a SQL loader query on our older Grouper install (2.1). Was there any expansion in the number of characters allowed in the grouper query field in the later versions of Grouper? Although a view might help we are stuck in the short term.
