My experience is that the Grouper/Postgres combination works well, but
that using Postgres 9.1 and earlier with Grouper can result in slow
performance due to the query planner. If you stick to
currently-supported versions of Postgres (>=9.4) though, you should
have few problems. You may need to add extra indexes occasionally,
but your Postgres DBAs should be able to help with that.
