This may not cover all of your use cases, but Lafayette College is
using another TIER component, COmanage, to handle sponsored accounts.
* tracks both sponsor and enrollee
* account lifecycle (closes automatically unless sponsor takes action)
* email notifications
* integrates with existing IDM (i.e. manages the sponsored accounts
DNs in enterprise LDAP)

Guests, visitors, and others whose identities are not managed in
source systems (such as HR or student systems) often need access to
education and research services. Like many other institutions,
Lafayette College had previously tried to shoehorn these identities
into existing systems with all the attendant problems of such an
arrangement. Lafayette looked to the COmanage Registry to provide
capabilities for managing these non-traditional identities.

This session will discuss Lafayette's business processes and
requirements surrounding sponsored accounts, review the capabilities
of COmanage, and provide an overview of the technology, implementation
methods, and integration considerations of the new COmanage-based
solution.
