Grouper Users - Open Discussion List

At Brown we're using what comes with Grouper. There are three parts to 
it, the external subject source, the invitation mechanism, and web 
services support for managing external users. The web services support 
is less than a year old 
(https://bugs.internet2.edu/jira/browse/GRP-1353). We started out using 
the subject source and invitation mechanism. We're in the process of 
switching from the invitation mechanism to our own web app for adding 
external users, in order to provide a better, more integrated user 
experience. Instead of using the built-in invitation mechanism, we'll 
use the web services support. We also have provisioning set up to 
provision the external users in Grouper to LDAP, where they have their 
own OU.

We've noted that in our IDM infrastructure, Grouper is not the ideal 
place for our external subject source. In our case, the general approach 
is to use OIM to manage people, and Grouper to manage groups. However, 
the Grouper external subject source is working well for us, and it's not 
a high priority to replace it.
