Thanks, James.

I had my sysadmin bump Java back down to 7, and it seems to have worked – I can log in and see the UI now.

Thanks for all the help.

I had “org.eclipse.jdt.internal.compiler.classfmt.ClassFormatException” and “GrouperUiFilter.doFilter(1032) -  - UI error org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP“ happen when I built the grouper UI with a different version of Java than what tomcat was running with. I believe in that case it was built with 8 and trying to launch with 7…? It’s been a while.

I fixed it by rebuilding the grouper ui (and ws) with the same verison of Java that tomcat is using. Check your JAVA_HOME.

Hi.  I use the startup.sh command in the Apache-Tomcat-6.0.35/bin directory.

I haven’t tried it with Java 7, but I could probably get my sys admin to swap that out if that would help.

How are you starting tomcat and do you get this error if you use java 7?

Thanks!

Chris  -

Here are a couple new versions of the log files, if that can help you get me pointed in the right direction.  I haven’t made any changes after the original install.

Thanks!

Yes please, take a look in catalina.out and the grouper log configured in log4j.properties and send them along if needed

Thanks

Chris

Subject: [grouper-users] New install - http status 500

Good afternoon.

I’m installing a fresh install of grouper 2.3.0 on RHEL 7.  The installer ran just fine with no errors.  I started tomcat and get the test page on localhost:8080, but if I test the grouper UI (localhost:8080/grouper) I get the http status 500 -  “the server encountered and internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.  Apache tomcat/6.0.35.

It’s a fresh install of RHEL 7 with JDK 1.8 – the latest release.

Thanks for any help. I’m glad to forward along logs if you let me know what I need.

Thanks.
