Hi Tom,

UCLA would like to get involved in the UI redesign.  I’ve been given permission to donate some of my  time to this.  To get started,  I have added an entry to the Community Requests table regarding Roles and Permissions.

Thanks,

Lawrence Klug

Subject: [grouper-users] community input to Grouper v2.2 UI

Dear Colleagues,

Our main focus for the Grouper v2.2 release is a re-designed UI, and the core development team asks your help in insuring that the result meets the needs of the Grouper community. Your help can take many forms:

  • documenting functional requirements or use cases
  • examples of successful UI elements or workflows that might be emulated (screenshots, videos, story boards)
  • recommendations or requirements for the technology stack on which it will be built
  • recommendations for the process to be followed to build it
  • offers of participation in the build process (development, UX, QA)

We've created a wiki page on which to gather your input:

https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+UI+redesign+v2.2

In particular, there is a table in which I encourage you to record any of the above types of input:

https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+UI+redesign+v2.2#GrouperUIredesignv2.2-community

The page and the table have been seeded with some initial thoughts about a few aspects of this. Below the table there is also a schedule we'll try to follow to keep the community input process going, then focus it on two specific aspects of the build process (technology stack and UX process), and then perform an initial analysis of the collected input to start the actual design process.

Thanks in advance for your efforts and thoughtfulness!

Tom
on behalf of the Grouper project team
