Not out of the box, no. Because of the schema changes to the database, the 
grouper.jar that comes with ldappc won't work against a 1.4.0 database. And 
because the grouper libs were restructured internally, you can't just drop a 
new grouper.jar into ldappc.

I've attached a diff of the changes needed in the ldappc source to import 
from the new grouper structure. That will allow use of a 1.4.0 grouper.jar 
file. I also ended up replacing most of the external libs with the ones from 
the grouper distribution. I don't have a good minimal list of what libs in 
particular had to be updated, though.

I will say that 1.4.0 so far has been the best build/install experience I've 
had. It's gotten much cleaner and portable.
