I'm going through the actual list of users, and finding the appropriate
one, clicking its checkbox, and clicking the remove selected members
button. I get the confirmation, and click OK, and then the error appears.

Yes, the user is a group admin, and I'm getting the error myself when
acting as global admin/GrouperSystem.

I haven't tried this yet, but I will do so. It does seem like removing
the member permission from the user, and updating this way does work, but
not to remove the user from the group by the remove member functionality.
That doesn't make our trigger go off, however.

No, I can remove members from other smaller groups without getting this
message.

This is the full error for the timestamp involved. There isn't anything
any higher up save for the login notification.
