I too am curious of the use cases for enabling these auto include/excludes. It seems for larger schools (like Michigan and Illinois), this might not be very scalable.  As Bill points out, this would force reference groups to have the same include/exclude structure.  Since we have a good number of very large reference groups that I would like to keep “pure”, I tend to be shying away from the idea of doing this system-wide, and rather enforce includes and excludes using composites.

 

It would be good to talk about this in more detail on the call. Carl’s structure script might spur some good talking points!

No, we do not use the built-in include/exclude group type.  We do, of course, use composite groups for policy groups. The factor groups are labeled as allow and deny groups as described in the GDG.  Carl has gsh python scripts that set up the structure for us.

 

Is that one of the things we'll be talking about on the call tomorrow? :)
