+1 to Gary's comment on the bug:
"I suspect that you could do what you want by subclassing the JNDI / JDBC adapters and overriding the methods there. Ideally, the Subject API would support multiple searches and a client could use a named query and take a Map as a source of query terms. The Grouper UI allows you to provide custom subject search fragments and an interface for modifying a search term based on custom form elements."
We don't need Subject hooks. We need additional Subject adapters.
