Right sidebars are typically "fixed" by restricting everything to its left to a fixed width, and then having everything "float:left" to stack against the elements on the left. How wide do you want the main content to be?

The problem here is not the rendering of the sidebar, which does have a
min-width. The problem lies in the extreme variable width of main
content, which forces the sidebar out of its intended place, no matter
its width.
No, though it seems to make sense to fix the position of the sidebar and let the main content adjust to the remainder of the width of the page. Or some equivalent.
Is there a reason why the main content of pages like edit
for enrollment flows can't be restricted at all? It's just text, which
can be wrapped.
