This sounds like a good topic to work on in collaboration with VO
partners. I know that ScottK has established a naming scheme suited to
LIGO, and Rachana Ananthakrishnan has some ideas about how they'll
support BIRN's needs. I think these differ in ways that reflect the
different MOs of these two VOs.
