[sig-voip] Internet2 NET+ SIP Program workshop at the ACUTA Annual Conference

As many of you may know, we (a number of Internet2 Universities) brought up an Internet2 NET+ SIP in the Cloud Program that was contracted to Aastra and Level 3 following a community generated and evaluated RFP.  The Internet2 NET+ SIP Program went live in November and at this time four major Universities are in the process of inking contracts for SIP VoIP services available from Aastra and Level 3 through this program.

 

To help people either considering using the SIP VoIP services or even just considering a VoIP migration, the Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC),  hosted at Texas A&M University is going to hold a pre-conference workshop at the ACUTA annual conference in April.  The workshop is Sunday the 14^th of April and will be held at the conference hotel in San Diego.  This workshop will be an 8-hour, hands-on session that will provide all of the basics of SIP standards and then students will configure SIP devices and services.  Attendees will configure a phone, set up a line, activate voice mail, and set up a call center.  Participants will also work on gateways, session border controllers and network monitoring/reporting tools.
