As many of you know that are on this working group list,  there has not been much activity over the past few years.  While the list has been dormant,  there has been work going on.

 

Many of you may also know that Internet2 has begun to offer Net+ services and one such offering is for Sip in the cloud services.  These include Hosted PBX services from Aastra and SIP trunking from Level3.  The plan is to expand services in the future by working with the TAMU Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center that I co-direct with Dr. Ana Goulart. 

 

One activity in this area  is the establishment of an ITEC advisory group made up of participants from both Internet2 and ACUTA. This group met for the first time yesterday.  More will be available soon on the ITEC.TAMU.EDU web page.

 

A second activity is the hosting of a pre-conference workshop at the Internet2 Joint Techs meeting next month in Hawaii.  This half day workshop will have participants installing new stations,  configuring SBCs and gateways and managing SIP trunks.  I know that Hawaii seems like an expensive trip but I found that the travel is reasonable (<$800) and the hotel rooms the same ($130).    This may be the only time that this workshop is held in 2013.
