Ben,

FYI, the Educause Net@Edu Integrated Communications Strategies group recently conducted a survey of fifty (leading) universities, deemed most likely to be deploying convergence solutions.  Forty two universities responded to the survey.

Of 42 responding universities, 69% said they planned to implement QoS techniques as part of a converged services rollout.

The survey data came in this week.  I should be able share the full report when it is finished.

"QoS Not Needed"

  2:00pm EDT Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Despite several decades of research, several tens of thousands of

research papers, and a major effort by Internet2, IP Quality of

Service (QoS) has not deployed.  Nevertheless, real-time

applications are thriving.  I will provide a retrospective on why

QoS has not been needed, is not currently needed, and should not be

  needed in the future.
