DRAFT

November 18, 2003    2:30 – 3:15 EST

Participants

     Tsegreda Beyene

     Dennis Baron

     Jeremy George

     Walt Magnussen

     Martin Jackson

     Mike Enyeart

Discussion

Walt:

1.     Ben Teitelbaum is in the air enroute to College Station, TX, and probably won’t be able to join the conf call.

2.     TAMU signing ITech MOU tomorrow.   Projects will include:

a.   Resolving the in-bound call routing issues raised by the Georgetown project, using SS7.

b.   Develop metrics to empirically measure VoIP quality, using jitter, packet loss, etc, on a codec specific basis.

c.   Document SIP interoperability issues.

d.   Recommendation on best practices for VoIP devices (later in 2004)

3.     Joint Tech meeting in Hawaii (late January).  Ben is working with Paul Love to see if we can get a time slot for Wednesday January 28.  The location and APAN / TRANSpac presents an excellent opportunity to further engage the Far East.

Dennis:

1.     SIP.edu.  MIT, Yale, Penn up and running.  Talking to Columbia (they are using SER)

2.     Working on SIP cookbook.  Format progressing.  Have engaged MIT technical writer and coordinating with Ben Teitelbaum.  Hope to publish some information on-line later this month.

3.     Cisco.edu. Working through some NDA issues with MIT legal attorneys.

Walt:

1.     Need to transition the ‘I2 VoIP backbone project’ to SIP using CM 4.0 using E.164 and then tie in SIP.edu dial plan.

2.     Walt asked Dennis about MIT’s participation in the disaster recovery project.  Dennis said that Northern Crossroads is handling the termination for MIT.

Mike:

1.     Asked the group how they felt about putting the workshop survey on the WG web site.  Several suggested that any personal comments and non-relevant information (e.g. food quality) be edited out.

2.     Will send out a request for agenda topics for the next conf call, scheduled for Dec 2 at 2:30 EST.
