This morning we successfully tested the VOIP link between the National
Autonomous University in Mexico and Texas A&M University as another Internet2
peered international connection. This means that anyone at any of the
Internet2 tested campuses can call any PBX extension at the National
Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) over the combined Abilene and CUDI
networks.
The list of Internet2 peered sites is now at thirteen. They include:
Indiana University
Penn State University
University of Virginia
Northwestern University, Evanston/Chicago IL
University of Wisconsin, Madison
Australian Academic and Research Network
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro
University of Florida
Czech National Research and Education Network
University of Cincinnati
Texas A&M University
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México /
Autonomous National University of
Mexico
As you can see this now includes four International sites including
Czechoslovakia, Brazil, Mexico and Australia.
This leads up to the events of the Fall meeting in Los Angeles. If anyone
has any ideas of ways to expand this or any other VOIP initiative, please
share them with the list.
