Please join us for a special call this Thursday, when our guest will be Scott
Brim from Cisco. We'll have an open discussion as Scott shares some of his
work/thoughts/genius.
Some of Scott's topics will include:
-Technology recommendations
Including the critical position of the "connection manager" in client
devices
-SCTP as a good transport protocol (with or without mobility)
-Technology tradeoffs in putting together a mobility service
For example, quick reconnect versus session persistence.
-The role that Internet2 members play in providing mobility, if any
Scott had a great presentation in the Spring Member Meeting (link below).
There are parallels between some of his work and some of our previous
discussions, and there's much common ground between Mobility and
Presence/Integrated Communications. This looks like a rich area for
innovation - something to get excited about!
There is a high potential for future collaboration between our group and
Scott + others in I2 interested in mobility. We'll probably include a short
discussion about future activity and next steps; everyone is encouraged to
join in.
If you'd like more info (questions, comments, more discussion topics, etc.)
prior to the meeting, please let me know.
-Tim
