Some teasers for discussion on today's call:
- We have (at least) three forks on Federated XMPP: Shibbolized XMPP,
Loose SSL federation, and Google Wave. It would be ideal to have
more progress on all three forks before October.
- I've identified specific tasks in the three, and would like to
discuss how we move forward. Penn's a bit swamped and it would
be great to get some other volunteers.
Google Wave:
** deep inspection of their federation protocol
*** how much has been added to piggyback on XMPP?
(How "XMPP" is the resulting protocol?)
*** does this look useful to us? How?
What can we do with it that's "shiny" for October?
Loose SSL Federation:
** OpenFire does have the right knobs for us to tweak. It would
be great to have two volunteers to set up OpenFire servers using
a specific root CA
*** Discussion on whether or not XMPP.net certs are good enough for
this loose federation (driven by Stanford's requirements)
Shibbolized XMPP:
** Penn is working on a command-line SP; if anyone knows of one that
already functions, please let me know
*** Once we get beyond that, I'll be discussing protocol/
implementation details with Peter
