*Discussion*
Deke asked Peter St. Andre about source materials for the PIC.edu cookbook; he
suggested taking a look at http://stage.jabber.org/clients (although it's
still
under construction) and http://www.jabber.org/user/userguide/ (although it's a
few years old). Peter also offered to provide an introduction to the Openfire
team.
PIC.edu server:
- [ACTION] Deke will contact David Morton about working on PIC.edu server
documentation.
- [ACTION] Tim will contact Dorothy Williams and Ed Humphrey about working on
PIC.edu server documentation.
PIC.edu clients:
- [ACTION] Tim will send wg-pic a proposal for which features the initial
PIC.edu client table should cover.
- [ACTION] Mark will provide a list of three or four clients that are known to
support all the features needed for the initial version of PIC.edu.
- Mark noted that Penn will be evaluating many Jabber clients next year,
following the process documented at http://www.upenn.edu/computing/eval/ .
They
expect to produce recommendations by May.
There was strong interest in having a PIC.edu demo at the Internet2 Member
Meeting in April. [ACTION] Rodney will compile a list of web-based Jabber
clients for use in the MM demo. [ACTION] Tim will submit a proposal for the MM
demo, and cc wg-pic.
