*Discussion*
The group discussed plans for its track session at the April 23-25 Internet2
Member Meeting. It was agreed that the meeting will include:
- an overview of plans for the PIC.edu project
- case studies on how XMPP is being used at Penn (Deke) and MIT (Dennis, if he
is able to attend)
- results from the PIC.edu survey, especially any new use cases it turns up
- a pitch for feedback and participation in PIC.edu
[ACTION] Jonathan will submit a Member Meeting track session proposal based on
today's discussion.
The group discussed the PIC.edu survey, and Candace updated it shortly after
the
call. See
https://wiki.internet2.edu/confluence/display/picwg/PIC+Project+Proposal+Survey
[ACTION] After the Rodger/Ken/Tyler PIC.edu planning call, Ben and Candace
will
finalize and distribute the survey.
Ben has revised the PIC.edu project proposal; see
https://wiki.internet2.edu/confluence/display/picwg/pic.edu+Draft+Proposal .
One of Ben's changes was to remove the link to the older, SIP-centric PIC WG
features list
(https://wiki.internet2.edu/confluence/display/picwg/PIC-WG+Features+List);
however, Candace noted that some of that information needs to be incorporated
into the PIC.edu proposal. [ACTION] Mark will revise the features list, adding
XMPP items to the "Protocol Specific" section, and making the "User Features"
and "Security and Privacy" sections protocol-agnostic.
[ACTION] Dennis will recruit someone from Google to join a call to discuss how
they might be able to participate in PIC.edu.
Deke noted that he is taking down the jabberwocky server at Penn; he can bring
it back up in future if necessary.
