Yup. But I'd be careful about concluding that the sky is falling.
In a nutshell: copybot is technology to violate IP rights management in
Second Life. It's a credit to Linden Labs that they have mechanisms
for trying to protect intellectual property. And that they understand
that DRM is about helping honest people to do the right thing, not
about enforcement. See their blog entries for more on this.
copybot was made possible by Linden's support for opening up access
to SL through libraries. That is, access by more than just the client.
Within hours of the copybot debacles, gadgets and process began to
appear to defeat it.
Second Life clearly has its problems and they extend well beyond this. :)
But it remains an incredibly interesting and rich environment, IMHO.
