*Discussion*
[ACTION] All will review the revamped PIC WG web site
(http://pic.internet2.edu/) and send comments to Ben T. and Rodger. Deke has
requested that the Arlington PIC WG meeting be rescheduled so that Michael
Gettes can join the next-steps discussion as spokesman for I2IM.
The group discussed where SIP-XMPP interop should take place -- server-side
gateways or multi-protocol clients? There has been no recent work on SER's
Jabber module, but there is Thomas's Summer of Code work on GAIM.
Rodger noted that there is currently very little commercial softphone
development, but there still seems to be significant interest in open-source
client development. GAIM now supports 11 protocols, including Sametime, and
has an active development community. [ACTION] Rodger and Ben T. will test
GAIM SIMPLE against pals.
Deke has brought up two instances of jabberd 2.x at Penn. One is for internal
use and testing; the other will be made available to the PIC WG. Penn plans to
use the SASL support to wire it for Kerberos authentication.
