*Discussion*

The PIC Member Meeting session has been approved, though a time for the
session
is not yet scheduled. An abstract is at
https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/arc/wg-pic/2006-02/msg00038.html. Rodger will
chair, and is recruiting panelists; so far Deke (or someone else from Penn) is
the only one confirmed. [ACTION] All will send Rodger suggestions for Member
Meeting panelists.

The group continued its XMPP discussion. Steve noted that Penn is setting up a
Jabber server. Dennis noted that every MIT user has access to Jabber, but
uptake
is low -- MIT's in-house IM system is still heavily used, and there are AIM
users as well. Rodger suggested that PIC talk to some XMPP experts before
going
forward with work on Jabber deployment; Michael Gettes, Jon Peterson, and
Peter
St. Andre are prospects.

There was a short discussion of IM/webmail integration; gmail and hotmail both
offer this. Dennis noted that some people find it annoying to be listed as
present online just because they're reading email.

The group agreed that Candace's feature request list
(https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/arc/wg-pic/2006-02/msg00035.html) should be
posted with a note identifying it as a work in progress, and periodically
revisited. A wiki would be ideal for this; [ACTION] Ben C. will find out how
to
get a PIC wiki set up. Rodger suggested the group also devote some time to
reviewing the list on a future call.

Candace closed her H.350/sip-communicator action item; see
https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/arc/wg-pic/2006-02/msg00039.html. Rodger noted
that the emerging H.325 standard claims to fix problems with H.323 and SIP.
[ACTION] On a future call, Rodger will give a very short overview of H.325.
