This is a refresher configuration sheet for eyeBeam, doing peer to peer presence.
We are now testing with the beta version eyeBeam Beta 1.1.2 3006o stamp 17550, available after logging in at http://support.xten.net/viewforum.php?f=14
Create Account:
Right click on the client and choose Settings - SIP Accounts - Add a New SIP Account or just edit the previous one for pals.
Register with pals:
Click Server and enter any display name, your pals user name, authorization user name, and password. By default, user name = authorization user name, without @ or domain. Domain will be pals.internet2.edu Click Register with domain and click Enable this SIP account and press Apply.
Enable Presence:
Choose Presence under your new account, and set Presence mode = peer-to-peer and poll time and refresh interval to something that matches your patience level. The lower it is, the more messages you'll see in the diagnostic log.
Presence Options:
Click Calls & Contacts and Add a New Group, called Internet2. Click Add a New Contact, and fill with someone else's sip address at pals, and Group = Internet2.
Click on the green avatar marked Available to set your own presence. Click New Status Message to set up a custom status setting (perhaps with your location). Click Status Settings to set more status details.
Right click on client and choose Privacy Management to setup your contact list access (Allow Phone, Allow IM, Show Presence). Be careful with this.
Troubleshooting:
Click OK and right click on client, choose SIP Account Status, and check to make sure you are Registered with pals.
During a call or IM or presence update, right click on client and choose Diagnostic Log to see the content of any error messages.
Right click on client and choose Privacy Management to confirm your contact list access (Allow Phone, Allow IM, Show Presence).
