All,

To my surprise I got an email last night okaying one 75 minute session
at the SMM. I guess they dropped their suggestions? We need to decide
how we want to tweak our original proposal, assuming we still want
to proceed. And, then decide who's doing what. The original proposal
is included after the access blurb. Just something to push against.

Since we have the SMM session I think we should touch on the packaging
we've discussed and make sure that's still on track.

If folks are interested, I'd like to talk about the JISC paper.
Do we want to make contact?

Twice recently Jamey has sent around very interesting URLS on such
topics crickets, motes and multitasking. If you have time and
haven't yet looked at them, please do. It might be worth a few minutes
kicking around how these devices/issues fit in with PIC's agenda.

Last week's Candace-led Eyebeam testing was both very interesting and
successful - kudos. Let's see where we are with Xten now and what the
next steps are. Folks who had thoughts about Eyebeams's skin might be
interested in Pangean's softphone at www.pangeantech.com/insta-react.php .

Session Title: Presence, Integrated Communications and Location Based Services

Session Abstract: The Presence and Integrated Communications working group proposes a double session. The primary intended audience would be campus decision makers who, to date, appear to be reluctant to move toward the opportunities available in advanced IP communications. One session would be a panel discussion on Rich Presence, Integrated Communications and Location Based Services: their definitions, the state of the art and likely futures. This would be similar in nature, but not content, to the RTC panel at the FMM '04. Possible presenters are Henning Schulzrinne (Columbia U) and Rodger Will (Ford). The other session would be devoted to presentations by members of the PIC working group explaining group activities to date and how we can help campuses take the steps discussed in the other session. Possible presenters are Jamey Hicks (HP), Deke Kassabian (UPenn), Joe Rork (Ford) and Candace Holman (Harvard).

Speakers:
Jeremy George, Yale University
