Hi all,
To help evaluate an extensible client that supports presence and integrated communications, we've scheduled a group test of the Xten eyeBeam beta against pals (presence and location service built on iptel.org's ser) next week in the hour before the conference call. If you'd like to test and can't make that time, please let me know.
when: February 10, 2005 3:00-4:00 PM
server: pals.internet2.edu
version: eyeBeam Beta 1.1 3003z stamp 16417 (or higher)
I've sent the download site to those that inquired. I'm not sure how many of us are actually registered for it. Let me know if you don't have the Beta and would like to help test.
Settings for your pals account are the same as they were for all the past demos, noteworthy is the joint techs demo (hint). User name, auth user name, and domain are specific to your own domain. Password is the same as before. Domain proxy - choose 'register with domain, use as outbound proxy, manual override', host = pals.internet2.edu Please contact me offline if you need more details on the settings.
Testing Goals
1. Basic functionality: IM, rich presence updates, voice, maybe video
2. Advanced pals functionality: xcap, event state publication (tbd)
3. Presence: importing common presence status and locations
4. Ease of use, installation, etc.
I fixed some limitations in SER's parsing of Accept and Event headers but have mostly been in various meetings this week, so that's as far as I've gotten.
There is still a problem with the SER PA wrt SUBSCRIBE and PUBLISH processing, so I propose to turn off the PA for today's call so that SER will pass those SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY directly between Eyebeam, which should let us test more Eyebeam features.
Candace offered to help, and I think this is something she could help with. The particular problem I'm having is that Xiaotao and I expected the same contact value in the PIDF as in the SIP headers, and the SER PA is using the contact from the PIDF to find a record in the database. Eyebeam is using the address of record (e.g., sip:) as the contact in the PIDF. If that's the correct interpretation, I will replumb a bit to make PA behave correctly.
I should be on the Eyebeam test call, but I need to repatch one of my ports to get my Windows box on the right side of the firewall.
