*Discussion*
The group reviewed action items:
[19-Aug-04] Jamey will write up the details on enabling per-room display of
resources, and send them to the list.
- Still to do.
[19-Aug-04] Jamey will continue as the maintainer of the client requirements
doc, aiming to have a draft revision in the next week or so.
- Still to do.
[19-Aug-04] Jamey and Xiaotao will get SER and sipc ready for a PIDF demo, and
test it before the August 26 call.
- Done. We played with it a bit on the call and it worked fine, then SER
crashed.
PRIORITY-HW - [12-Aug-04] Ben T. will get Joe the dimensions of the media
cards
for the kiosk.
- In process; so far all Ben has learned is that they're "normal sized".
PRIORITY-HW - [12-Aug-04] Joe will follow up with Ben T. about laptops Ben T.
may be able to make available for the kiosk.
- Bob Riddle can provide these, but we need to give him OS specifics.
PRIORITY-VoEx - [12-Aug-04] Ben T. will make further arrangements with VoEx.
- In process.
[12-Aug-04] Ben T. will give a progress report on using a web proxy to enable
click-to-dial for SIP.edu.
- No progress yet.
PRIORITY-HW - [5-Aug-04] Anyone who has computers they can donate for the
kiosk
will contact Joe.
- Ongoing.
[5-Aug-04] Joe will try to get the kiosk ready for a demo on the August 26
call.
- The group agreed to push this back to September 9.
[29-Jul-04] Ben T. will get the H.350 engineers involved in planning for the
Fall MM demo.
- Done. Nadim El-Khoury is working hard on this. Ben T. stressed that we need
to
make sure we have at least one H.350 client ready for Austin.
[17-Jun-04] Joe will maintain a list of Austin demo goals and assignments on
the
PIC web site.
- The subgroups have been moving forward nicely without this, so it was agreed
to drop this item.
Both subgroups met earlier this week; there has been some testing as well. In
the web UA, the rooms section on the left side has become a separate rooms
page;
this is where the room-specific links will go. Jan Janek of iptel.org has
provided bug fixes to improve the stability of SER.
The group assigned several testing action items:
- [ACTION] Ben T. will test sipc with Linux and a Clarisys 150 handset.
- [ACTION] Jamey will test sipc with USB audio and Linux.
- [ACTION] Jamey will add the aliases of subscribers so domain hijacking will
work.
- Dennis noted that he has removed people from the sipc presence list, then
seen
them reappear after he restarts. [ACTION] Jamey will test xcap DELETE. Dennis
also observed that sipc sends a whole bunch of DNS queries when it starts; he
can provide an Ethereal log for anyone who wants to troubleshoot that.
Finally, Joe called the group's attention to a new videoconferencing and
collaboration technology called Facetop; see
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,64129,00.html and
http://slashdot.org/articles/04/07/11/212212.shtml?tid=107&tid=187&tid=189 .
Developer David Stotts is a professor at the University of North Carolina;
Ben T. is following up with him on possible involvement in PIC.
