I agree with almost all of your note, Joe. The pieces below are just
the ones I have something more than 'yup' to add.

Well, this is an ongoing theme. Keeping in mind that our core charter
is based on SIP, we'll probably need to have some gateways into non-SIP
protocols. I'm more open to such where the intention is to provide
interconnection with an established PSTN-based service (e.g., SMS)
than I am where we would be heading toward balkanizing IP-based service
(e.g., Jabber).

I don't think it's going to work to try and be everything to everyone.
Let's discuss such interconnections as a group on a case-by-case basis
for the time being.
