- Date: Thu, 13 Nov 2003 17:03:10 -0500
Attendees:
- Jeremy George
- Xiaotao Wu
- Ben Teitelbaum (minute taker)
- Art Gaylord
- Alan Whinery
- Jamey Hicks
Last Call
- Small
- Probably Jeremy discouraged folks by saying he wouldn't be on it
- In future will send out reminder/draft agenda ahead of time
- Also, we'll designate a minute taker for this (and future) calls
Columbia Architecture Meeting
- Dec 2nd, 9:30 - 3:00pm
- Columbia University, Mudd Building
- Morning in 453 Mudd; Afternoon in 473 Mudd
- Jamey to draft architecture diagram by next week's call; we need
to review this and arrive prepared!
- We have 10 confirmed attendees (pretty much at capacity)
East West Center (Hawaii)
- Jamey and Alan in communications re: floor plans and WiFi
- Building is old; no AutoCAD available, only paper blueprints
- Alan will take some measurements by hand
Internet Weather Presence
- Ben has re-thought wisdom of requiring participants to download
special measurement software to get one-way loss
- Instead, will just use ping (already on clients); actually using
fping, which generates more machine-readable output
- Adding new fields to "place" table (downstream_loss,
upstream_loss, session_name, session_end_time, area); "area" is
to support location dithering
Per-room Miking
- Art talking to audio engineer friend and looking at Polycom
conference phones
- Alan says the East-West center rooms are heavily miked
- Alan is on PC and will find out how many different rooms will be
in use
Presence Portal
- Not much has happened
- HP Labs has developed a graphical display of user location
- This will be integrated by Joint Techs
WiFi
- Have complete map of campus APs (channels are hard-set)
- Access points in East-West center are not yet set up, but Alan
will find out how the channels will be configured
Location
- Planning to add SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY support
Discussion of asymmetric performance, iLBC, and whether session
negotiation supports asymmetric codecs
