I fear I know what this means.  Does anybody know if this applies to
wired connections?  Any workarounds for devices that don't have web
browsers... like a SIP phone!

In advance of your arrival in Indianapolis next week, I want to make you 
aware of how access to the wireless network at the meeting will work.  When 
you first connect to the network, you'll be taken through a registration 
process for the device from which you're connecting.  There will be a delay 
of up to five minutes while the DHCP access lists are updated.  You'll need 
to reboot your machine or manually reset the DHCP information, after which 
you'll be able to access the network at any time throughout the 
meeting.  Flyers explaining the process will be available in your 
registration packet, and a help desk will be staffed during the 
meeting.  While the registration process is something of an inconvenience, 
we expect it to result in smoother operation of the wireless network by 
allowing support staff to quickly identify the source of a disruption.
