Hi All,
Six months ago, I was horrified when I accidentally created a SAP storm with minSAPserver.
There were no viable SAP server solutions around, and I was lucky to find Joe Huber at Talasoft to create one for me.
We would now like to make a beta of EasySAPAnnouncer (ESA), a new IPv4 SAP announcer, available for testing and use to interested parties.
This will create SAPs, that will be recognized by VLC and other SAP listeners, from standard SDP files.
For now I have tested multicast RTP files created by QT Broadcaster, Wirecast, and DSS/QTSS Playlists.
It has been tested the past few weeks, and no problems have been found that would adversely impact networks.
Versions have been compiled to run on OSX, Linux and Windows XP/Vista.
I have just created a simple wiki page on ESA, which will be kept updated with new information, at
http://nutmeg.conncoll.edu/wiki/index.php/ESA
To control distribution, please email me if you would like to try it, with the OS desired. I will email you the program (1.5-3.4 MB).
If anyone outside your group would like a copy, please have them contact me directly, so we can track who is using it.
We are welcoming feedback, with the caveat that it has been designed to be a simple program.
At the time we started this project, no efforts were being made to fix miniSAPserver, and I did not know the status of Hitoshi Asaeda's "next-gen" project. So, this is not to replace those worthwhile endeavors, it's just another tool.
I am on "vacation" and may take up to 24 hours to respond to any requests.
Thanks,
