I think it is appropriate if you are sure you can keep on top of any
changes in allocations and group address usage. If you do MSDP filters,
it might also be useful for you to apply the appropriate scopes and PIM
filters while you're at it. There are lots of knobs that have become
available recently on vendor gear. One that seems very nifty to me is
the RED-based control of maximum MSDP sources (found in at least JUNOS).
That knob may be especially useful if you're fearful of completely
filtering out groups.
