"Overview of the TiVo Service Architecture"
Jim Barton (VP, Engineering)
Tivo, Inc.

The TiVo Service is based on a scalable distributed architecture for the
management and provisioning of many different kinds of meta-data for each
TiVo subscriber.

This talk provides an overview of the architectural philosophy and actual
implementation of the complete end-to-end service platform, including a
discussion of the challenges of building a reliable consumer-oriented
"black box" using modern computer technologies.
