Subject:Multicast peering between France Telecom research network and the
I2 research community

Hi,

My name is Christian Jacquenet and I'm heading an R & D unit which is
involved in the design and the development of value-added IP services, based
upon multicast traffic processing features, among other things. From this
standpoint, we've set up an experimental network between France Telecom R &
D premises (7 locations in France) since 1998, which aims at qualifying and
validating deployment scenarios related to IP multicast services (as well as
IPv6 services, BTW.).

We currently run SSM-based multicast services (VOD, TV broadcasting,
training) over this experimental network since last year, and we'd like to
develop such evaluation campaigns (validation of routing and addressing
policies, provisioning of some security features (dynamic activation of
IGMPv3-based filters), automatic tunneling over non-multicast capable
domains, etc.), by establishing some peering agreements with the
international research community, and this is why I take the liberty to
contact you, to see if such a peering can be done and, if yes, what would be
the conditions.

I'd like to insist on the fact that there is no commercial implication of
such a request: our purpose is to share some experience with the research
community in the field of multicast.

Please feel free to comment - I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Christian.
