I guess that an average over the socket life is enough, as a user can calculate other types of averages based on this life average.

Here is the latest draft. It includes a select call and performance
statistics call for both average and incremental statistics.
Incremental is intended to be performance data relative to the last
call to x_sockstats. Should average be over the life of the socket or
something else?
