So, some progress, but a possible issue.

I have a custom package built with the latest curl, installing (mostly) to
/opt/shibboleth.
I've gotten the RPMs on top to require that version on RH6, so the
dependencies work.

The problem is LD_LIBRARY_PATH isn't working for /usr/sbin/shibd. It does
work for the underlying libraries, but not when shibd itself is loaded on
top.

I know setuid binaries don't honor it, but shibd isn't setuid, and I
haven't seen any other references to it being ignored.

I suspect this is why one of the original posters about this mentioned
using LD_PRELOAD instead. I don't prefer that, but I'm not sure why the
search path isn't working. Anybody have an idea?
