The Shib team is seeking experienced and knowledgeable Shib'ers who would be interested in helping to test Shib 2.0. The new release is currently in an alpha version, and the first set of testers has started working with it. At this point, we'd like to expand the set of testers. Note, however, that this is alpha code, and we expect it to be broken in places.
Consequently, it only makes sense to volunteer to help test 2.0 if you are sufficiently familiar with Shib to be able to differentiate unexpected from expected behavior. We don't currently have time to help people new to Shibboleth learn how to install the Shib components. As the testing moves forward, we expect to have an open beta testing period.
In addition, if you plan to test the IdP, some understanding of XML and a *good* understanding of configuring the servlet container would be very helpful.
With regard to the SP, we'd particularly appreciate someone willing to test the security options. The current alpha version of the IdP does not include the security code (altho all that code has been written). Consequently, testing the new SP would probably require access to some other SAML 2.0 IdP implementation.
If you are interested in helping, note that you are a) committing some of your time over the next few weeks to testing various scenarios, and b) committing some of your time to providing useful feedback about your environment and symptoms (both when it works as expected, and when it doesn't).
If you'd like to help, please send me (off-list) the following information:
1) which component(s) you are interested in testing
2) a description of your environment (OS, servlet container and version)
3) a short description of your Shibboleth involvement and experience
Thanks very much!
