Patches are easy, distributing new releases is hard and very time consuming.
There aren't any plans to do them because it takes time away from 2.0.
If somebody wanted to implement something on the branch, I doubt there would
be any major objection to committing it, depending on how it was
implemented, but there wouldn't be an updated release.
